Jack Robinson '19 has unparalleled grit and passion for lacrosse.
This earned Jack a position at the selective Trilogy Lacrosse Academic Aces Showcase which took place July 12-14 at Goucher College in Maryland. The program is designed to expose participants, who hail from the classes of 2018 and 2019, to the college recruiting process and emphasize combined academic and athletic excellence. To attend, participants must have a GPA over 3.0 and receive a recommendation from a coach.
According to Jack, "Being selected to attend the showcase was an honor. There were so many great student-athletes selected and it was very humbling to be one of them."
The program occurred over the course of three days, and as Jack explains, it was meant to "test your stamina and your will to move forward." During the first day, participants focused on positional training. The second and third days were focused on games, with the finale culminating in playoffs and the championship.
Jack went above and beyond in his own excellence as a student-athlete by qualifying for the Academic All-Star Game, a feat only 32 out of the 150 attendees can claim. The game occurred on the second day in oppressive heat and was broadcast live on the Lacrosse Sports Network. Jack scored two goals and had one assist. It was one of five games he played that day.
Robinson's performance at the showcase is a testament to the hard work he has put in as a student-athlete during his time at the Academy. He has been a member of the varsity lacrosse team since eighth grade and during the past three years he has scored 55 goals and had 66 assists.
Coaches from all three athletic divisions were present at the showcase. They ran workshops detailing the world of college athletics.
When asked about his plans for the future, Jack said, "My dream has always been to play lacrosse at the next level. The showcase was a great way not only to give exposure to me as a player but also as a student."
