Wilbraham & Monson Academy's Wenjun "Happy" Chang '18 showed what he can do when he has some strong competition in the pool.
Competing against one of the top swimmers in New England, Happy broke his own school record Feb. 15 in a meet at The Ethel Walker School, touching the wall in 53.95 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly.
"I was racing David Fitch so I was motivated to go fast," explained Happy, who placed second in the race to the talented Williston Northampton School swimmer. "I tried my best to hold onto him and go as fast as I can to get close to him."
Happy originally set the record at the New England Championships in March of 2016 in 55.11, then again in 54.77 at the first meet of the 2016-17 season.
WMA will compete at the Western New England Prep School Division III meet Feb. 25 at the Hopkins School in New Haven, Conn.
