Just like many college programs, the Wilbraham & Monson Academy Baseball team will head south for spring training.

For the fifth year in a row, WMA will play at Historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Fla. From March 8-12, the Titans are scheduled for seven practices and six games.

"The kids love it," WMA Coach Jim Irzyk said. "It's a chance to play six games against some good competition. And more importantly, it gives the players a chance to bond and get to know each other. We have a mix of freshmen to postgraduates. The setting of Dodgertown is awesome, from the facilities to the fields to the dining hall."

The Titans will compete against other high schools and club teams at Dodgertown. In recent years, the Academy has faced programs from Florida, Texas, New Jersey, Connecticut and Canada.

WMA will stay in the same rooms on campus and play on the same fields as many of the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodger greats from 1948-2008, such as Hall of Fame inductees Jackie Robinson, Sandy Koufax, Pee Wee Reese and Mike Piazza.
