The Wilbraham & Monson Academy Boys' Lacrosse team is close to being full strength, and it's starting to show.

The Academy made the two-hour trip to South Kent School April 27 and knocked off the previously undefeated Cardinals 14-8.

Along with its 16-9 triumph at Suffield Academy April 23, the Titans climbed to 4-2 and have outscored its last two opponents 30-17.

"It's always tough to play South Kent, especially if you have to travel because it's a two-hour bus ride," Coach Mike MacDonald said. "I thought the boys handled that trip very well. We had a good warm-up. South Kent got out to a 1-0 lead in the first 15 seconds but then we scored six goals to go up 6-1 at the end of the first quarter, which was huge for us because we didn't play our best in the second and third quarters. We were never able to pull away until the fourth quarter, when we slowed down the possessions, had great shots and were able to bury them. We put in six more goals."

Cam Curland '17 and Mike Kendall '17 returned to the lineup, giving the Titans some much-needed depth.

"We've had a lot of injuries to starters and guys who play key roles, so to have those guys back is big," Coach MacDonald said.

"Anytime you play an undefeated team you don't know what you're going to get other than good team chemistry and probably a good coach. For us to give them their first loss builds some confidence. We've been focusing on the game at hand and not into the future. The whole week was about being prepared for South Kent. We were prepared and met the challenge head on."

Spencer Marocchini '16 continued his outstanding season for the Titans, leading the team with five goals and two assists. He scored two of his goals at a crucial time in the fourth quarter, and the ball was in his stick for much of crunch time.

Jalen Paul '16 added three goals and two assists, and Jack Faulstick '16 played very well in his new role of long pole midfielder.
