May 15 will be dinnertime for a few members of the Wilbraham & Monson Academy Riflery team.

It will also be awards time.

Erika Convery '19, Nick Spellman '19 and Ryan Cordeiro '21 will be honored by the Connecticut State Rifle and Revolver Association at a ceremony on May 15 in Wallingford, Connecticut, for being selected to the All-State First Team.

This is Erika's and Nick's second time being named to the prestigious 12-shooter team, and Ryan's first. Ryan and Nick tied for fifth in the league with an average score of 193 (out of 200), while Erika's 190.67 was 10th.

In 2018-19 WMA enjoyed another banner year – literally. The Titans went undefeated for the third consecutive regular season and claimed their third Prep School Gallery Match in a row. Coach Bill Passy's team also won the Gallery Match for the second straight season and was the runner-up at the Riflery Championship Shoot-Off, which Ryan won.

Quotes

Coach Passy regarding Erika: "Erika's success comes from her love of the sport and her detailed work ethic. She approached each day, from her freshman year through her senior year, as a new challenge. She truly loved the sport and her teams."

Coach Passy regarding Nick: "Nick was a quiet but strong leader. He let his actions do his speaking for him. When he did speak, the rest of the team took notice. He came into his own his junior and senior year and it showed on the range."

Coach Passy regarding Ryan: "Ryan's hard work turned himself into one of the best shooters in the league. He is the ultimate team player - doing whatever I ask of him without hesitation or complaint. He will be relied upon heavily to lead the team in his final two seasons at WMA. The sky is the limit for Ryan."
