There was a point during the Suffield Invitational April 24 when Wilbraham & Monson Academy's Jack Godin '20 could have let a bad hole affect him.

He didn't.

In a field of more than 50 golfers, Jack finished strong and claimed the top spot at the annual championship event.

Jack finished with a 3 over-par 75, which tied him with three other golfers for the lowest score. However, after three tiebreakers, Jack was named the winner. He shot a 39 for the front nine and overcame a bogey on the 10th hole to close with a 36.

Jack's first-place finish came after WMA's Peter Bowie '18 won the Suffield Invitational in 2017 and 2018, giving the Titans the last three winners.

Quotes

Jack on his strategy for the match: "There are a lot of tricky holes out there, so I wanted to pick the clubs I knew I wanted and hit the fairways."

Jack on how he reacted after his bogey to start the back nine: "I bogeyed the 10th, but I told myself I still a lot of holes left and that I had time."

Jack on winning: "It felt amazing. Peter won it the last two years, and I thought I compared well to him, so to keep the tradition of WMA winning that tournament and to see where he is now gives me a lot of confidence going through the rest of the year."

Coach Doug Hutcheson on Jack's performance at the Suffield Invitational: "Jack won because he was patient. The course was extremely wet and the wind was tricky. He made a plan for each hole and stuck to his plan. A strong finish over the last six holes won him the tournament."
