It may have taken a little longer than he had hoped, but in the end, everything worked out for Wilbraham & Monson Academy's Cam Smith '19.
Surrounded by his family, friends and teammates, Cam signed his National Letter of Intent March 21 to attend and play lacrosse at The College of St. Rose.
St. Rose, located in Albany, New York, is a Division II program in the Northeast-10 Conference. Interestingly, two of Cam's WMA teammates have signed to play for teams in the NE10 as well: Jack Robinson '19 (St. Anselm College) and Jackson Whitlock '19 (Le Moyne College).
Quotes
Cam on signing his NLI: "It was relieving, knowing the recruitment process was finally over. All my teammates were there, and my family was there supporting me. It felt good to finally sign."
Cam on why he signed with St. Rose: "I really liked the city of Albany, how coach (Jim) Morrissey runs his team, and the school in general. I thought it would be a good place for me."
Cam on how WMA helped him reach his goal: "Every aspect of WMA has helped me get to where I am in the college process. Coach (Mike MacDonald) has helped me tremendously through the process. Without him I don't know if I'd be playing college lacrosse."
Coach MacDonald on Cam: "Cam had worked extremely hard on his academic and athletic goals while attending WMA. He was chosen to represent our country, playing in the U19 Indoor Box World Games. Cam is coming back as our leading scorer from last year and we're looking for him to do the same this season."
