Wenjun "Happy" Chang '18 has set the bar very high for himself during his career on the Wilbraham & Monson Academy Boys' Swimming team.

Maybe that's why he's the most decorated swimmer in the history of the program.

Happy set two school records and placed first in two other events at the Bud Erich Championships Feb. 24 at the Hopkins School in Connecticut.

Going into the final meet of his career, Happy owns three individual school records, is a member of all three school records in the relays, and has his name next to three pool records.

At the Bud Erich Championships, Happy finished second in the 200 individual medley, bettering his school record by nearly two seconds with a time of two minutes, 1.15 seconds.

"For the 200 IM, it wasn't surprising," Happy said. "I thought I was going to do it. It was a decent swim, but I excepted to break two minutes."

In the 100 free, Happy touched first. However, he narrowly missed the school record with a time of 48.79.

"I was kind of disappointed because I was .1 seconds off the school record. I really wanted to get that," Happy admitted.

Happy and his teammates excelled in the relays. Happy joined Egor Tokarskiy '20, Alex Ravelli '18 and J.J. Wilson '19 to win the 200 medley relay in 1:43.96.

In the final race of the meet, Happy teamed with Alex, Egor and J.J. to set a new school standard in the 400 free relay with a second-place time of 3:20.78.

"I think we did pretty well," Happy said. "In the 400 free I led off with a 48.3, almost breaking the school record. That's kind of disappointing but we all did well. We all did our best times and we broke the school record."

J.J. joined Happy on top of the podium as a winner of an individual event. In a field of 65 swimmers, J.J. touched first in the 50 free with a time of 22.67, winning by .56. J.J also placed third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.43.

Egor also medaled in an individual event, taking third in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.47.
